As per the standards Side/taper pulling is not allowed. Cranes and hoists are not designed for taper pulling

• This can cause immediate stress on the wire rope causing it to snap immediately.
• This can cause accidents to the human / machinery as side will cause pendulum effect of the load and can cause serious accidents.
• Failure of gearboxes / bearings / motor /wheel will and can happen.

So side pulling is dangerous and should not be done.
